Mint Springs Park Upper Lakefront Master Plan

Project Description

Mint Springs Park Upper Lakefront Master Plan

The Mint Springs Upper Lakefront Master Plan expands the use of a favorite Albemarle County park with an accessible fishing pier and enhanced lakefront. Blending the site’s rich agricultural history with its beautiful natural stream and lake, the project invites users to recreate on the site and engage the water. A new shelter and bridge beckon to a natural play area with boulders and logs. A fireplace draws visitors to gather near the water where they can sit or venture out onto the new fishing pier, weaving together human activity and natural ecosystems. Lawn converted to meadow planting attracts native pollinators critical to the ecological health of the area. The new site design offers a playful retreat in the midst of native understory orchards and pollinator meadows that draw from the site’s historic agricultural forms.
